Valdemar Estates opened in April, 2019. It was founded by the Martínez Bujanda family, which has made wine in Rioja, Spain since 1889 – the year Washington state received its statehood.
When the family began making plans to build Valdemar Estates, they wanted a building that acknowledged their heritage their innovative and bold spirit.
In the fall, all of our grape crushing takes place here. We are the only winery in Walla Walla with an indoor crush pad.
Our production facility is designed to accommodate our diverse and expanding winemaking program.
You probably know that most fine wines are aged in oak barrels. But why? A barrel essentially does two things to wine: it slowly introduces oxygen, and it imparts the character of the wood.
Valdemar Family has nurtured a long history of quality and excellence. It is no accident they came to Walla Walla to begin their first international adventure.
